Shishou (
Appearance[]
He was a plump, middle-aged man whose eyes nor smile betrayed anything about his true intentions.[2]
Personality[]
Shishou was known to be extremely cunning, and successfully deceived everyone as a 'villain' to the end. Although he was loyal to the country, his feelings for Shenmei meant he could not stand up to her machinations.[3]
Abilities[]
Influence: He had outstanding influence in the court, to the point where even the Emperor could not stand up to him; he was able to force out Ah-Duo from the Garnet Palace and instate his daughter Loulan instead. However, compared to the Outer Court, his influence within the Shi Clan itself was lacking, and he was no match against his main wife Shenmei.
Intelligence: He was clever enough to become the heir of the Shi Clan despite being from a branch family.
Background[]
Though he was from a branch family of the Shi Clan, he was adopted into the main family and given the name 'Shishou' due to his intelligence. He was highly favored by the Empress Regnant and helped her abolish the slave trade by proposing that she expand the Inner Palace to accommodate those that were to be sold.[3]
Shishou brought the Former Emperor's illegitimate daughter and a physician to the against the country a when they were banished from the inner palace. Later, the Former Emperor asked him to marry his daughter, with whom he had his first daughter.[4]
With his excellent record, Shishou requested Shenmei from the inner palace, who had been his betrothed since his adoption into the main family. They also had a daughter, Loulan.
After the Former Emperor's death, Shishou continued to hold influence over the Emperor as Prime Minister; this extended to forcing out Consort Ah-Duo as the Pure Consort, to be replaced by Loulan.
