"Maomao and Maomao" is the 25th overall episode and the 1st episode of the second season of The Apothecary Diaries anime adaptation. It premiered on January 10, 2025 at 11:00 p.m. JST (9:00 a.m. EST) on Nippon TV's FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT programming block and stream on Crunchyroll.

The spring garden party concludes without incident. Maomao returns to her regular life as Concubine Gyokuyou’s taster. Meanwhile, novels become popular in the rear palace. Maomao wonders how this came to be, as novels were typically considered low-class. But behind the scenes lies Jinshi and his goals as manager of the rear palace.

The spring garden party ended without incident, and Maomao returned to her daily life as Lady Gyokuyou’s poison tester. Meanwhile, popular novels were all the rage in the harem. Maomao wondered why novels, which were not considered a refined form of entertainment, were so popular, but Jinshi had his own intentions as the harem manager. Then, in the spring weather, when he went out to accompany Princess Lingli, the daughter of Lady Gyokuyou, on a walk, a small, unusual guest suddenly appeared...
