"Lakan" is the 18th episode of the The Apothecary Diaries anime adaptation.

Back at home, Maomao visits an annex building at the Verdigris House that hides one of the brothel's secrets. Lakan continues to antagonize Jinshi as his connection to Maomao becomes clear.

After parting ways with Jinshi in town, Maomao returns home and delivers medicine to the annex of the Verdigris House at the request of Luomen. There, she finds a sick prostitute lying down, and while giving her the medicine, Maomao becomes lost in thought, reminiscing about the old Verdigris House and the prostitutes of that time. Meanwhile, back at the harem, Jinshi becomes aware of his relationship with Maomao as he talks with Lakan, a military strategist who gets involved with Jinshi at every opportunity and who shows an interest in Maomao.^[1]

Despite being introduced in Light Novel Volume 05, Ukyou makes an early appearance greeting Maomao at the Verdigris House.
Maomao is greeted by Pairin in the Verdigris House apothecary shop, who is being nagged by the madam on her buyout options.
Pairin, the madam, and Ukyou ponder on Maomao visiting the annex.
The madam is shown alerted to Lakan's arrival, to which she fetches Meimei.
Meimei escorts Maomao back to Verdigris House's main building, and they take a bath together, along with Pairin and Joka.
Maomao's conversations with Suiren are merged into one.
Jinshi's conversation with Lakan happens after Maomao visits the medical office.
The scene of Jinshi asking Maomao if she wants to see Lakan happens before she bumps into Suirei at the medicinal garden.
