"Honey" is the 10th episode of the The Apothecary Diaries anime adaptation.

A tea party hosted by Lady Gyokuyou puts the politics of the rear palace at the forefront, and Maomao learns something new about Lady Lishu. His true intentions unclear, Jinshi sends Maomao to work for Lady Ah-Duo.

A rumor spreads in the harem that the person who poisoned Lady Lishu at the garden party was the court lady who committed suicide by drowning in the moat of the outer court. However, Jinshi, who is suspicious of why a mere maid would poison Lady Lishu, orders Maomao to investigate the Garnet Pavilion where the dead court lady had worked. Guided by the head maid, Fengming, Maomao helps with the general cleaning. There, she sees Lady Lishu spying on the Garnet Pavilion, which leads to the solution of a major mystery.^[1]

Ah-Duo is shown drinking alcohol on top of the rear palace guard wall.
Maomao notes how much more on guard the ladies-in-waiting are during tea parties than when the Emperor arrives for a visit.
Gyokuyou smiles when she sees a pigeon while writing letters to be sent back home.
Maomao is booted out by her fellow ladies-in-waiting, who urge her to rest while they clean up the tea party.
Maomao notices a sweet smell coming from a candle in Fengming's room, when Fengming hands her some blankets. The next day, she deduces that honey was the source.
The maidservant sleeping next to Maomao turns away from her while she tries to sleep.
Maomao is called to the honey storage room while she cleans the floor.
Maomao sees Lishu and her food taster from the honey storage room, rather than from upstairs.
Lishu is shown being sick from eating honey as a baby, while doctors attend her.
Kanan stands opposite of Lishu and stays silent while the other ladies-in-waiting chastise Lishu.
