Onsou

Onsou (音操 (オンソウ) , Onsou?) is the current aide of Lakan, replacing Rikuson after the latter was sent to the Western Capital. He is a recurring character in The Apothecary Diaries.

Appearance[]

Onsou is a man of average height and build. According to Maomao, he does not look like a soldier.[2]

Personality[]

Onsou often finds himself dragged around by Lakan's impulsive behavior, so wishes that he were in a different position. Maomao finds him easier to persuade than Rikuson.[2]

Abilities[]

Facial Recognition: Though not as skilled as Rikuson, facial recognition is still one of Onsou's specialties.[3]

Diligent: As Lakan's aide, Onsou helps interpret his words and looks after him.

Background[]

After Rikuson left for the western capital, Onsou replaced him as Lakan's aide.

Onsou helped Maomao solve Lakan's poisoning incident by describing his recent actions and drinking habits. It was determined that Lakan had poisoned himself unintentionally by letting the juice within his glass bottle ferment.[4]

When the Moon Prince and Maamei negotiated to give back Lakan's paperwork in exchange for using the Argent Theatre for his Go tournament, Onsou helped draw up the details for the tournament.[5] Later, he was present at the theater to look after Lakan's well-being.

Both Lakan and Onsou traveled with the Moon Prince on his expedition to the western capital. At the port in Anan, Onsou tried to stop Lakan from climbing up the ship mast, but both ended up dragged down by sailors. They also joined Maomao, Lihaku, and Chue in walking around the marketplace to find the quack doctor.[6]
