Lahan's Older Brother is the older brother of Lahan and the first son of Lakou. He played a major role in fending the locust plague off, and is a secondary character in The Apothecary Diaries.
Appearance[]
Lahan's Brother is described as having a medium build and no distinguishable features.[3]
Personality[]
He is among the more ordinary members of the La Clan, but he is still very capable compared to the average person. This "ordinariness" gives him an inferiority complex towards his younger brother Lahan.[2] Like his father, he specializes in farming, and specifically really likes potatoes.
Despite his seemingly rough exterior, he is actually a very kind person. Maomao takes pity on him because he is too nice for his own good, which makes it easy for others to take advantage of his hard working nature.[2] It is easy for Lahan to get a rise out of him,[3] and despite his expertise in farming, he will vehemently object to being called a farmer.[2]
Abilities[]
Farming: Lahan's Brother is proficient in all farming-related manners, and is quite passionate for it despite claiming otherwise. He specializes in cultivating grains.
Diligence: Lahan's Brother is diligent and capable of doing any job assigned to him.[4] He is the most capable and effective within field work though.
Normalness: In the web novel, it was revealed that his "normalness" is so extreme that he possesses the ability to remain composed during all sorts of situations, no matter the severity. According to Lahan, his demeanor manages to remain extremely normal even during a fight. This ability allows him to endure harsh environments and workload with little toll on him.
Background[]
When Maomao and Lahan traveled to make arrangements with Lakou to buy sweet potatoes, Lahan's Brother greeted them while they were en route to his house. He urged them to get out of the house while Lahan was trying to figure out what was happening, but was interrupted by his mother and grandfather walking in on their conversation. Lahan's Brother then alerted Rikuson, who gathered some soldiers to help stop a fight happening in the house.[4]
Lahan's Brother was sent to the Western Capital by Lahan with seed potatoes to alleviate food shortages caused by locust plague. Due to his agricultural expertise, Jinshi tasked him with teaching the farming villages autumn plowing and potato cultivation as an anticipatory measure.[5] He ended up on the front lines of the locust plague but successfully warned Maomao of the coming disaster via pigeon. Thanks to his efforts, the farming villages are able to save significant amounts of wheat from being devastated.

- The running gag about Lahan's Brother is that almost no one called him by his actual name. Additionally, his attempts to introduce his name are usually interrupted or brushed off before he finishes.[2][6][5]
