En'en (
Appearance[]

Personality[]
En'en's personality is somewhat similar to Maomao's, being smart, sarcastic and quiet.
En'en is very fond of her young mistress. She always observes Yao's emotions, which she finds cute and charming, whether it is joy or anger, and playfully teases her to see her reactions. She will do anything to protect Yao physically or mentally, carefully controlling what work her mistress does and what Maomao tells her. She is rarely seen alone without Yao and prefers to follow her everywhere she goes.
She dislikes being separated from her mistress by force and hates Jinshi because serving him (even if temporarily) causes her to develop a case of "Yao deprivation". It's believed that there is no telling what En'en might do in a state of extreme Yao deprivation, even causing concern that she could die from a lack of Yao.[2]
Abilities[]
Intelligence: En'en is very insightful. She uses careful observation to estimate a person's background, abilities, and can sometimes anticipate their intentions.
Knowledge: En'en's knowledge in medicine is somewhat average, but she knows a lot about history and politics.
Cooking: En'en has excellent cooking skills and always prepares meals when she can. Her older brother is a chef.[3]
Trivia[]
- The 燕 (yàn/en, tsubame) of her name, En'en, means swallow in Chinese and Japanese.
- En'en is interested in the game of Go and appreciates Lakan's knowledge of it.[4]
- In one scene, Basen describes En'en as "not hating men, but clearly has a preference for women", which Jinshi understands as an indication of her lesbian nature and thus feels relieved that he can work with her without becoming a target of unwanted affection from her side.[1]
